A pool opening includes the following:
- Remove winterization plugs and blow out tubes. Place items in the plastic bin (provided by Thatcher Pools at no charge).
- Install pump and skimmer baskets.
- Install pump, filter and heater drain plugs.
- Start circulation system.
- Install handrail and ladder (in the event that the handrail, ladder, anchors, or anchor bolts are deemed unsafe, they will not be installed at the time of the opening).
- Light and test heater (if heater is deemed operable and safe to light). Leave running at customer’s request (desired temperature to be advised by the customer).
- Inspecting and replacing pressure gauge as needed (no charge for gauge when replaced at opening).
- Inspect auto cover ropes for wear.

A pool closing includes the following:
- Remove plugs\drain water out of filter, pump, heater, chlorinator, etc. (place plugs in provided plastic bin).
- Blow out and plug plumbing lines with winter plugs provided by customer (if plugs are determined to be weathered or cracked they will be replaced and billed to the customer).
- Install blow out tubes in skimmers provided by customer (if blow out tubes are determined to be weathered or cracked, they will be replaced and billed to the customer).
- Remove ladders and handrails.
- Turn off gas to heater.
- Turn off power to pool equipment.
- Empty and remove pump and skimmer baskets, place in plastic bin.
- Add antifreeze to skimmers (cost of antifreeze is included).

Items NOT included in a pool opening:
- Adding water to the pool.
- Removing winter cover.
- Cleaning winter cover, automatic cover or automatic cover box.
- Removing debris or vacuuming the pool.
- Brushing the walls or floor of the pool.
- Cleaning the pool deck.
- Moving furniture, tables, umbrellas or other items around the pool deck.
- Returning to a pool in the event that the pool cannot be started because the water level is too low.
- Returning to a pool that could not be started and has leaks in plugs and caps that could not be checked during the pool opening.
- Returning to the pool to start the equipment due to a power issue (power not available to equipment at the time of opening).
- Adding chemicals/balancing water.
- Cleaning salt cells.
- Pumping water off of solid winter cover or auto cover.
- Lowering water level to open bubblers.

Items NOT included in a pool closing:
- Balancing the water.
- Lowering water level in the pool to winterize the pool or winterize the bubblers (if needed).
- Pumping water off of the auto cover.
- Vacuuming the pool/removing debris.
- Moving furniture, tables, umbrellas or other items around the pool deck.

Additional services that can be purchased, pricing listed per item:
Removing winter cover.
- Aboveground Cover $75.
- Inground Mesh Cover $100.
- Radiant and Solid Inground Cover $125.
- Cleaning big debris off mesh winter cover, applying stow away and folding up cover (cleaning as best as possible with space and area allowed) $100.
- Power washing automatic cover $275.
- Clean out the automatic cover box $150.
- Clean salt cell $50.
Clean or replace filter sand or cartridges.
- 100 – 150 lbs. = Service call in your area + Sand $12.50 per 50 lb. bag.
- 175 – 300 lbs. = Service call in your area + One hour labor $100 + Sand $12.50 per 50 lb. bag.
- 325 – 500 lbs. = Service call in your area + Two hours labor $200 + Sand $12.50 per 50 lb. bag.
- 525 – 1,000 lbs. = Service call in your area + Two men two hours $400 + Sand $12.50 per 50 lb. bag.
Any pool/equipment repairs. Parts and labor for necessary repairs will be billed on a time and materials basis. If repair work takes more than 30 minutes a future appointment may be required to complete the work. |
